February 28, 2021 New Every Morning – Lamentations 3:19-26

In certain stages of our lives, we experienced some severe forms of affliction and tormenting. It was beyond our control with one’s finances and human abilities. We could not imagine how bleak in the future and the situation was hopeless. At that moment, we cried out in prayer: “God, oh God, why this happened, help me!” Although these emotions were battered and the body exhausted, we received enough strength from God for a new day. In addition, we found comfort in the words of the Bible, including the book of Lamentations. Here Jeremiah voiced his grief over the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians, “I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall.” (Lamentations 3:19) Yet Jeremiah didn’t lose hope. He called to mind the mercies of God, that His compassions “They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ” (Lamentations 3:23) So did we. Whatever we’re facing, know that God is faithful every morning. He renews our strength day by day and gives us hope. And at times, He brings relief. After a long while, the incident faded in time, giving us a peaceful sleep and hope for the future. When our souls are downcast within us, “I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me.” (Lamentations 3:20) Should we call to mind the promises of God that His mercies are new every morning.
