December 28 Rebuilding the Ruins – Jeremiah 33:6-11

Years ago I heard stories about the drug addicts turned their lives around when receiving Jesus as

their personal saviour. A very dramatic one was an addict, who transformed into a pastor and he had a calling to help other addicts to change their lives from removing their addictive behaviours into a normal person through the power of gospel without using any medication. And this program became so famous that the addicts enrolled themselves voluntarily. Of course, the process was long and exhausting. It needs lots of prayer, encouragement, support and determination.

When we look to Jeremiah 33: for how God can bring healing and restoration to people and places, as He’s done with the addicts and the marginalized group too. The prophet Jeremiah spoke to God’s people in captivity, “I will bring Judah and Israel back from captivity and will rebuild them as they were before. I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me. Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it.” (Jeremiah 33:7–9)

When we’re tempted to despair over the sin that brings heartbreak and brokenness, let’s continue to pray that God will bring healing and hope, no matter how bad the situation is.
