December 7 Prayer of the Broker-down – Isaiah 6:1-7

If we sin and do evil, we will feel guilty, we should be condemned and punished, and often feel guilty. Even some most devout Christians struggle with this feeling when they make small mistakes. Sometimes, inner feelings will condemn us and lead us to repentance. However, when our sins are forgiven, but the lingering inner feeling will take away our freedom.

(Isaiah 6:1-5, 7) “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the LORD, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

(1 Peter 2:24) “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” When the Lamb of God died on the cross, our sins and sins fell on him. The beauty of the gospel is that Christ canceled the punishment we deserve so that we can be completely free from the burden of sin and enjoy freedom. Let us rejoice together, because with Jesus, we don’t need to be by or fall into endless shame. We are forgiven!
