November 24 Taught by Turkey – Matthew 6:25-34

Sometimes I looked back years ago when I longed for a steady job. It seemed never to happen and desperately despondent. Because I had been trying hard and still nothing came up. I couldn’t imagine how I passed those terrible days. It had to be definitely horrific. Thank God those days were history now. I would have a nightmare when I travelled back in time.

This leads me to reflect God’s promise in Matthew 6:26 “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you

not much more valuable than they?”

Jesus uses God’s provision for seemingly mundane birds to remind us of His care for us. If a bird’s life matters, how much more does ours? Jesus then contrasts upsetting about our daily needs (Matthew 6:27, 30–31, 33) “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

We’re confident of His rich provision for our needs. Because if God can care for those wild flowers, He can certainly look after you and me.
