October 4 Strange Comfort-2 Kings 6:15-17

A situation happens quite often particularly during this pandemic time. My wife’s friend told her a couple she knew ran a restaurant went bankrupt because they did not have enough business due to covid 19 and were forced to close the business. Then later the man contracted depression as he thought about the whole situation all the time. That is a double disaster for this family. There is nothing we can do to help. We just pray for them and hope that God will move them to Him. I wish God will open their eyes and find comfort.

When an army besieged Israel, a host of literal angels protected Elisha. But Elisha’s servant couldn’t see them. (2 Kings 6:15) “When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my LORD! What shall we do?” the servant asked.” (2 Kings 6:17) “And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

When we look to God, our crisis will show us what truly matters and that we’re not alone. We learn that God’s comforting presence never leaves us. He shows us His love in infinitely surprising ways.
