September 30 Rooted in Love-Ephesians 3:14-21

I remembered when I first was admitted into a primary (junior) school at a very young age. Perhaps the first day in school, we were taught to read and sing, no writing yet. Also I recalled I never got into kindergarten probably we didn’t have kindergarten back in those days. Then we had picture colouring, painting and singing. Everything was one step at a time, I also remembered once the class teacher showed me how to write by holding my hand to guide me to write one stroke at a time. I thank them for their patience and love. Because we were like a bunch of small brand new chicks, and we were bathed and rooted in love. What a fond memory!

Looking back for their patience and love, I wondered what kinds of things help us establish spiritual roots and mature into strong people of faith? What keeps us from withering up or failing to grow? Paul, writing:(Ephesians 3:17-19) “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the LORD’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

Growing spiritually requires rooting into the love of God—meditating on the truth that we are beloved by God. (Ephesians 3:20) “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”  What an incredible basis for our faith!
