August 29 The Ultimate Wave-Colossians 1:1-8

The first experience of waves I recalled was in a magic show on one evening near Christmas. The clown who made people laugh and cheer really did a great job. He did know how to move people into a wave. When he made a movement or told the crowds to do things and make a sound after him. People followed suit with his hands to direct them to make noise from left to right or vice versa. He was an expert making waves.

But there was a wave making back in two thousand years ago when the happiness and togetherness followers experienced while the good news of salvation in Jesus that united believers everywhere in praise and hope. This “ultimate wave” started over twenty centuries ago in Jerusalem. Writing to the members of the church in Colossae, Paul described it this way:(Colossians 1:6) “The gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it.” The natural result of this good news is “faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for us in heavn. As believers in Jesus, we’re part of the greatest wave in history. Once it’s done, we’ll see the smile of the One who started it all.
