Way back I remembered going to an evangelical meeting in the east end of Toronto. The speaker was quite popular one in that part of the city. It was a three part evangelical meeting. The first part was on Friday night and the second part on Saturday night. The final part was on a regular Sunday worship time. I attended the Friday night meeting, the attendance was only half capacity of the sanctuary. However, the content of the meeting was very captivating, beautiful music and choir, except attendance was somewhat disappointing. When the speaker(pastor) asked who wanted to receive Jesus as their personal saviour, the response was not exciting at all. The pastor said numbers were not up to them, but up to God. I came for the Saturday night meeting, the attendance was 80% full fifteen minutes before the meeting. When the meeting started, there was an overthrow of people in the lobby outside the sanctuary. And the content of the second sermon was the continuation of the previous night. The sermon was still very attractive and when calling for receiving Jesus, the response was dynamic and some thirty non-believers raised their hands to receive Jesus. I did not go to the third session of the meeting since I had to attend service at my own church.
Who knows what the outcome will be? (Galatians 6:9-10) “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people”. We don’t worry about numbers of visible results of success. Our job is to be faithful to what He wants us to do and then leave the harvest to Him. God determines the outcomes.
