Why do we work? We need to work simply to provide for ourselves and our family. There may be exceptions that some people may not have to get up early and go to work. Even this small percentage of them is different from the majority, but still they have to do something to pass the time.
Genesis 2 tells us that God placed the first human in the garden to “work it and take care of it” (v. 15). It would be nice if one loves what he does. If you don’t love what you are doing and still you have to produce something during the day. Should we have a good attitude even when we are in an adverse situation. Of course we should because God will provide us all the strength to overcome our difficulty.
Why did God put us in a particular place with a particular assignment? In Genesis 1 gives us the answer. We’re made in God’s image to carefully steward the world He made (v. 26). Genesis declares that our God made humans to be His representatives—to steward what He’d made on His behalf. May we reflect His wise and loving order into the world. Work is a call to cultivate God’s world for His glory.
