July 3 Just a Spark -James 3:1-6

One of the small parts of our body is the tongue. It can be powerful, damaging and devastating if wrongly used. People can use lies, slander, threaten, condemn and curse. But on the other hand,

one can comfort, encourage, support and strengthen. Similarly like the rudder of a ship, the hinges of a door. Even though they are small, they can navigate a direction and let it open or close.  The power of language can build up or destroy a person or overthrow a country. The tongue, small as it is, can lead to disastrous results.

Our small tongues are powerful, but our big God is more powerful. His help on a daily basis provides the strength to control and guide our words. Dear God, help me to speak the right words to encourage instead of hurt others. Help to keep a tight rein on my tongue.
