We feel so good when someone boosts us up and gives us encouragement especially when we are in the low point of life; like a failure in a relationship, business venture or loss of jobs and many other problems as well. Even we might not get immediate results but long term
encouragement can cure a poor soul like a patient taking medicine. Never underestimate
comforting and cheering words, it can lift us up mentally to a new level, so that we wouldn’t be
at a stage of depression.
Barnabas was a good example for inspiring youngsters in the ancient city of Antioch. He was famous for his ability to inspire people. Known as a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, he prompted the new believers to “remain true to the Lord with all their hearts”. I believe he spent time with those he wanted to help, saying things like: Keep praying. Trust the Lord. Stay close to God when life is hard. So it is true for us ordinary people, new believers, like children, need lots of encouragement. We are so full of potential and may not realize what God wants to do in life. Many of us who’ve walked with Jesus for a while understand how hard living for Jesus can be. We can get encouragement from God’s Spirit and guide us to a new stage of life.
