June 21 The Man in Seat 2D – 1 Timothy 6:17-19

I worked as a contractor (self-employed) almost half of my career life. Many people talked about saving money for retirement or investing RRSP. It was a very challenging and unpleasant

situation in the process. But just keep hoping for better the next day. My sister worried about my retirement in the future. Probably the only option was I did what I could. I remembered at the last job with a consultant firm before I embarked on a more prospective job. Something strange or coincidental happened. I passed by a co-worker desk and saw a name that seemed familiar, so I asked my co-worker for his phone number. I called him after work. My response was so surprising. The person on the other end recognized my voice and even remembered my name! I haven’t talked to him since my graduation (20 years). I explained my situation and was about looking for a job. I sent him my resume. Two weeks later I was offered an interview and another week I got a job that lasted me until my retirement. I thank God for one of His great miracles in my lifetime. I decided privately that I would share with others through a donation to those who needed help. For this action echoed the verse in the bible, 1 Timothy 6:18 “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share”. Instead, He suggests that we focus on living a life of generosity and service to others, becoming “rich” in good deeds, like the man from seat 2D on Kelsey’s flight. Whether we find ourselves with plenty or want, I can experience the richness of living generously by being willing to share what I have with others.

February 25, 2021 To Be Human – Philippians 4:6-8
