It is almost unimaginable that a sinned person repented for his wrongdoing in the past. I would regard it as a miracle. A famous example was John Newton. John Newton was an Anglican clergyman and former slave shipmaster. It took him a long time to speak out against the Slave Trade. He also wrote and composed the hymn, “The Amazing Grace”. Can you believe this happens to a sinner? We are all sinners as well, one thing which is so precious that we can turn from the evil things that we did in the past. It is not necessary as serious as stealing, murder and sabotage etc.
Although we had turned from God, He longed that we would get rid ourselves of the offences and “get a new heart and a new spirit”. Those words helped us to repent and live. May we respond to the Spirit’s conviction of sin, that we too might enjoy forgiveness and freedom. A good thing is God never forsake us no matter how bad we were in the past, and we become new creatures.
