October 30 Everyone Needs a Mentor-Titus 2:1-8

As an ambassador of Christ, we should prevail with warm words and kind appearance dealing with all those around us. We listen intently, and show by our kind expression and gentle words that we truly care.

As a believer in Jesus, He becomes our mentor, encourager, and friend. Apostle Paul was a spiritual mentor to Titus, his “true son in our common faith.”  In his letter to Titus, Paul offered him helpful instructions and guidelines for his role in the church. He not only taught but modeled how to “teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.” (Titus 2: 7–8)  “In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teachings show integrity, seriousness  and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.”

As a result, Titus became his partner, brother, and coworker, and a mentor of others. Many of us have benefited from a mentor—a teacher, coach, grandparent, youth leader, or pastor—who guided us with their knowledge, wisdom, encouragement, and faith in God. (2 Corinthians 8:23) “As for Titus, he is my partner and co-worker among you; as for our brothers, they are representatives of the churches and an honor to Christ.” Do we benefit from the spiritual lessons we’ve learned in your journey with Jesus?
