September 4 Speak Up! -Colossians 4:2-6

A few times we don’t want to speak up for many reasons. The first one being that we don’t want to be in an awkward manner in some situation or we don’t want to confront somebody particularly a stranger or a friend you know for a long time. The bottom line is you may run into a conflict and confrontation. Therefore we may better avoid any of these, so we shut up.  However there is always a risk that we have to take in order to get something back in good result such as proclaiming Jesus as our Saviour and He will change our life if we let Him in and take over us in our lives.

In the context of encouraging believers to be devoted to prayer, the apostle Paul made a twofold request: (Colossians 4:3–4) “Pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.”

I asked the question, “Have I prayed for opportunities to speak boldly and clearly for Jesus?” Such prayers can lead believers like us, to speak about Him in unexpected places and to unexpected people. Speaking up for Jesus can seem uncomfortable, but the rewards—changed lives—have a way of compensating for our discomforts.
