May 21 The Knife Angel-Isaiah 2:1-4

Knife Angel—a twenty-seven-foot-high angelic sculpture with shimmering steel wings was quite famous in UK.  Due to high knife crime rate at the time, so the creation of the sculpture was completed with the co-operation of the British Ironwork Centre and the local police forces. The idea was to reduce the knife crime rate. All 100,000 weapons were then welded together to create the Knife-Angel. These knives were initially a lethal weapon and transformed into a piece of artwork. Many lives can be saved. In Isaiah’s vision of the new heavens and earth (Isaiah 65:17), a place where children won’t die young (Isaiah 65:20) or grow up in crime-breeding poverty. The Knife Angel gives us a glimpse of God’s promised future. Swords become ploughshares and useful tools and weapons become artworks.
