January 18, 2021 Samaritan genes-Luke 10:27-37

In the first century, the first people who heard the metaphor of the good Samaritan did not have the same views as we are today. But when Jesus explained the parable of who is the neighbour, he praised the good deeds of a Samaritan. A man was attacked by a robber and was scarred. Two of his fellow countrymen turned a blind eye, and walked past him. Only the Samaritan “was moved with compassion when he saw him.” After the wounded man was placed properly, the Samaritan was relieved to continue to do his own thing. Jesus said that when neighbours see people in need, they will give their helping hands at the right time.

The pace of life in today’s society is so fast that the spirit of caring for the neighbours and helping each other is gradually weakening. We may not have the DNA of Samaritans, but as Christians who love God, I hope that we are willing to disrupt our original schedule, and are willing to give the helping hands and help those in need. Dear Father, You want us to be neighbours of others. Please enable us to help our neighbours without hesitation because we love You.
