I read about a lot of kids who were abused or ill-treated by close family members or even parents. Many of these kids came from broken families or parents who were drug addicts or alcoholics. They were never brought up properly, never experienced love, and were exposed and influenced in long terms in adverse circumstances. There is nothing positive in their young minds. By the time they become teenagers and adults, they just repeat the cycle of what they saw or heard about.
Except when they happen to be exposed to gospel there they may get a chance to turn around to become someone they dream about. They can find hope only in Christ and surrender their lives and have a relationship with Jesus. Since they were never encouraged or challenged to dream big in any way. Their minds were always filled with doom and gloom.
And suddenly one day they meet Jesus head on, their lives change entirely. They have a dream to pursue and a vision to look forward to.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Christ’s love and life breaks into the cycles of our past, giving us a new future. “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” (2 Corinthians 5:14–15). And it doesn’t end there! Throughout our lives, we can find hope and strength in what God has done and continues to do in us—each and every moment. God continues to shape our lives to increasingly resemble His?
